If you saw my recent post of 2007 VILLEWOOD comics, you would have read the comic featuring the superhero "The Blaze". For fun, I decided to try redesigning her. So here's my 2007 original design, and my 2021 update! What do you think? Comment below.

Here's this week's VILLEWOOD comics! I was homeschooled growing up. This comic came from me thinking about some of the differences between my experience and that of those in public school. Keep reading for more!
Most of us aren’t born with talent (if any of us are). To get good at anything, we need to work at it. This is a throwback comic from 2007. It’s the first comic in my longest running series “VILLEWOOD”, which was about a small town of the same name. I post this because I think it’s good for artists to share their older work. It shows other artists who like their stuff that it takes time and practice. That they didn’t get where they are over night. Here’s VILLEWOOD comic strip #2. This one features “Bryan Logany” (the guy in the ball cap 🧢) who was one of the main characters of my even earlier and second longest running series “Hit The Road” I plan to share some of those in the future. HTR was a more simplistic style and believe it or now VILLEWOOD was my attempt at a more “realistic” Archie-esque style. When I stopped doing HTR to work on improving my style, I decided to included cameos of Bryan and the other main character of HTR “Freak Head” (you’ll see her later). Enjoy! Making friends is hard. Back in 2007, my best (and only) friend had moved away. We still kept in touch, and in the long run became better friends for it. But still, 2007 was one of the loneliest seasons I felt as a teen. It was from this though that I poured myself into creative projects such as comics. While I hadn't moved somewhere new, I kind of put some of my feelings of trying to meet new people into this. I love pizza Always have. This comic comes from that.
Fun fact, originally in the series VILLEWOOD Natalie (purple hair girl) was the intended main character and Shane (red hair beanie boy) was the comic relief. But considering it's a comic series, it's no surprise that Shane became the star. This was the comic where I decided to switch the emphasis (which no one would have noticed anyway) to make Shane the lead character. |
