Why are we so afraid of people seeing us in a less than perfect way? Do you have low self-esteem? Here I talk about self-esteem, and ways to push through embarrassment.
Does our belief that we are good looking make us arrogant? No, it makes us honest. Of course, if we let it become what our entire identity stands on, then that becomes arrogant. Someone not knowing they are beautiful is not what makes them beautiful. Humility is what makes them beautiful. And humility isn't being ignorant of one's good traits, it's simply not gloating about those traits.
I think a lot of people put themselves down in an attempt to fish for compliments or because they believe it makes them sound humble. But humility is seeing you as you are, no more, no less. Pride is seeing you as anything you're not. Which is why putting yourself down is actually a form of pride, sometimes coined as "worm pride". See yourself as God sees you.
God bless you,
