But I digress.
What's new with me? Well lots of things, both blog and media related, and un-media-related. Un-media-related? That's definitely not a word...
Do you want to hear about my life first or my blog? Baah, of course you want to hear about my blog, isn't that why you're on my blog? Actually, wait, people usually write about their life on their blog, not their blog on their blog. That's pretty deep in a meta sort of way. Or just meta, not very deep ha ha.
Okay, blog talk:
My Blog Plans in 2017*
At some point, I'm still hoping to record a recap of my 2016, to give you guys an idea of my year. But we'll see what I do. In the meantime, my "Looking Back" post wil give you a bit of an idea.
I've got more comics coming. I've got a second brand new VILLEWOOD I've finished coming soon!
[2017/01/16 UPDATE: I've posted the brand new episode "The Flip Phone" on this blog now!]
For those who haven't heard it yet, I've started a podcast called The Christopher Green Show. If you like this blog, you'll REALLY enjoy that show! The first half is all about creative media/art, and tips and the like. The second half is random chit chat with guests, and it's just a lot of fun! If you like learning about my life (which is part of why some of you are reading this) then you'll enjoy the podcast a lot! You'll get to hear me talk (with my voice!) and hear some of the people in my life, that have helped shape my life and my art. Check it out right here on the blog or on iTunes! It's probably going to be coming out once a month, near the beginning of the month, so stay tuned and subscribe!
As for posts, I have some cool ones coming up, such as “Friends for 15 Years” a post about me and my friend Tyler, and our friendship of 15+ years, and advice for long friendships. I've also planned to write some personal “letters” to people I can't communicate with for various reasons (they've passed on, life just moved us apart, I haven't met them yet, etc). I think it will be a real interesting “series” of posts! I also have a short story I'm working on that may end up on here.
In the audio drama department, expect more new and exciting episodes of Shadows & Daylight as well the (possibity) of some new hilarious episodes of The Jimmy, Sam & Tommy Show. Also in audio drama, be sure to stay tuned to the Greenhorn Tales website, to find out more about the audio comedy I'm collaborating with JD Sutter on, which will hopefully have something coming out this year! :)
The best way to stay up to date with anything on my blog, is to sign up to my email newsletter. Using that, I will let you know whenever I have new stuff on my blog (and sometimes new stuff I have elsewhere! #OoohBonusPosts!).
Anyway, that's my blog in 2017. Now on to my personal life in 2017:
My Life Plans 2017
I really want to get into more audio freelance work. For those of you who don't know, I'm a certified Audio Engineer, which means I record, edit, mix, and produce audio productions, radio shows, commercials, audio for video and music. I've had several contract jobs in the past, and have one regular one currently. But I want to take a more intentional approach to seeking out, and gaining, contracts and freelance jobs this year, and in the future. So I'm utilizing contacts, and making new ones, this year, and challenging myself to reach out to at least one potential client every week day. It's actually a lot easier than it sounds, and I've had some really positive results already, and may have even landed a regular paying contract. And we're only five days into the year!
I want to really really listen to God better this year, and cultivate our relationship better. I want to also cultivate my family relationships, although I think I get along so well with my family, it's hard to think of where to improve ha ha! I'm not bragging, we've just always got along. Though I could take a little more time away from my computer to hang out with them ;)
I also want to take more time to spend with the people God has put into my life, and to minister relationally as the Holy Spirit leads. God has put me in touch with a lot of young people, and given me opportunities to disciple them, and I don't want to blow that, I want to take it seriously. I also really want to get back into my “College Tips” videos, because I feel those are needed right now, as so many of the young people I know are going off to college.
I'm also going to be hitting a milestone age this year, and it's really got me thinking. I'm sure I will post on that after, or nearer, my birthday. But it's really made me assess my life, and the goals I wanted to have achieved at this age, and the ones I haven't yet completed. Life isn't a race with clearly defined check points though, so I'm trying not to let it get to me. But I have to be honest, I'm not where I hoped to be yet, in some ways, but I'm much further than I expected to be, in other ways.
Oh yeah, and I'm probably going to try and grow a beard (again), because I don't look my age ha ha. Maybe this time I will be able to get passed the “scratchy” stage, and keep it around for more than a month ha ha!
I also really want to pass my G2 test (a road test for your advanced driver's license in Ontario). I've taken it once, and failed, but I had only had about eight months experience. I'm trying to practice through the winter, and hoping to try again in the spring when the weather clears up. I need to observe more, and practice more. But isn't that how life is? When we don't observe or practice, we miss out, or put ourselves and others in danger. #LifeThoughts. #WhyAmIUsingAHashTag.
Anyway, those are my thoughts and plans right now. But as the Bible says, and blogger Christopher 164 recently reminded me, our plans are subject to change, because God has bigger plans. Real plans.
I hope you're doing well! Thanks for reading my blog, and please don't be shy in the comments below! Say hi!
What are your plans for 2017?
*Which are completely subject to change at my whims and moods, and more importantly because of the direction of God's plans.
