Today I read a really prejudiced "joke" online, on an unrelated website, that was either made in extreme naivety or extreme insensitivity. The writer expressed surprise at finding out that Canadians could be Christians. You don't need to know anything about Canada to see what is wrong with this statement. Jesus Christ died once for all people (Romans 6:10). That means Canadians too.
Canadians, are human beings just like everyone else and man made boundary lines on maps don't change that.
While the, previously mentioned, "joke" admittedly hurt and got me a bit mad, I was reminded of the fact that for every insensitive remark I hear about Canada, I get 10 more genuine and friendly inquiries about Canadians from kind people like yourselves. So thank you. You don't know how much it means to me to hear interest, rather than prejudice and to have listening ears instead of assuming minds.
Please don't be afraid to keep asking me about Canada, but let's all remember not to stereotype people, and to remember we are all God's creation no matter where we live. Because where we live, is in Him.
"For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'" - The Apostle Paul, Acts 17:18
